Why Chassis? A good chassis is a long-term investment: because it protects the computer and thus extends its lifetime.

Which devices do you want to mount?

The number of devices to be mounted, i.e. SSD and HDD hard disks, as well as the number of other storage and peripheral devices is decisive for the selection of the right chassis.

In what environment is the chassis located?

In particular, it is important whether multiple servers are connected in parallel: Is there enough rack space available for the chassis Die gute Nachricht: Eine Anschlussmöglichkeit von Hardware zur Dateneingabe ist nicht mehr nötig, da die Installation und Wartung von Anwendungen und Betriebssystemen heutzutage über IPMI gesteuert wird.

Tower Chassis, 1U, 2U, 3U or 4U?

A Tower Chassis is the smallest variant, followed by 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U. The U stands for Rack Unit - a size unit.

2U means 8,9 cm.
3U means 13,3 cm.

Redundant or single power supply

In the next step you decide between redundant and single for the desired power supply.

How many and which hot-swap drive bays will you use?
