Vor einer Umstellung muss genau geprüft werden, was von den vorhandenen Komponenten anschließend noch funktioniert und was erneuert werden muss. Das gilt insbesondere für ältere Switche. In vielen Fällen ist ein Austausch bei der Erhöhung der Netzwerkgeschwindigkeit durch modernere Switche notwendig. Anders beispielsweise bei den Servern. Für diese sind teilweise Adapter verfügbar.
Für Highend-Netzwerke: Layer 2/3 100G/40G Ethernet SuperSwitch
SSE-C3632S-SMCPL100G (Standardluftstrom) und SSE-C3632SR-SMCPL100G (Rückluftstrom) mit Supermicro OS sind Stand November 2020 das Neueste von Supermicro im Bereich 100G-Switching. In Abhängigkeit der vorhandenen Verbindungen können Ethernet-QSFP28-Ports in SSE-C3632S entweder für einen 40-Gbit/s- oder einen 100-Gbit/s-Port konfiguriert werden. Somit ist eine flexible Ethernet-Struktur des Rechenzentrums möglich. Zusätzlich ist dieser Switch auch mit getrennten Kabeln an bis zu 128 25G-Ports anschließbar.
Durch den kompakten 1U-Formfaktor kann der Switch in einer eigenständigen Umgebung positioniert oder in eine ToR (top-of-rack) Umgebung eingebunden werden. Beide Switche eignen sich ideal für Rechenzentren, Cloud- und Unternehmensumgebungen mit hohem Datenvolumen und anspruchsvollen Rechenaufgaben.
